Tallahassee State College Jazz Band Fall 2024 Concert: Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 7:30 PM

TSC Jazz Band, under the leadership of Director of Bands Lisa M. Foltz, presents its annual family-friendly “Fall Concert” on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in Turner Auditorium at Tallahassee State College; 444 Appleyard Drive; Free and ample parking and free admission for all! Come enjoy an evening of Classic Big Band, Jazz, Rock, and Swing tunes! Turner Auditorium is located in the Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), between the Administration Building and the Communications and Humanities Building.

Featuring tunes by Henry Mancini, Mike Kamuf, Les Hooper, Billy Joel/Arr. Nestico, Chick Correa, Victor Schertzinger/Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen/Sammy Cahn (as performed by Frank Sinatra and Count Basie), and more!

Capital City Band of Tallahassee State College – Fall 2024 Concert: Tuesday, 10/15/2024 at 7:30 PM

Capital City Band of TSC, under the baton of Director of Bands Lisa M. Foltz, presents its annual family-friendly Fall Concert on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in Turner Auditorium at Tallahassee State College. We’ll be celebrating 100 years since the original founding of “Tallahassee Community Band.” Free Admission and free and easy parking! 444 Appleyard Drive, Tallahassee, FL.

Featuring tunes by George and Ira Gershwin, Timothy Mahr, E.E. Bagley, Paul McCartney (arr. Sweeney), Andrew Boysen, Jr. (arr. of an American spiritual), Washington/Harline/Nestico.

Turner Auditorium is located in the Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), between the Administration Building and the Communications and Humanities Building. Come out to support live music and the performing arts at TSC!

Celebrating and Summarizing our 2023-2024 Season

Thank you to everyone who follows the blog posts for Capital City Band of TSC and TSC Jazz Band here! We had some challenges with our website last year, but we’re back! Before we share our current concert posters (look for another post soon!), please celebrate our successful 2023-2024 concert season with us.

TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE JAZZ BAND (as it was known prior to July 1, 2024) presented six concerts during the 2023-2024 concert season:

  • October 23, 2023 (Fall Concert in Turner Auditorium)
  • November 29, 2023 (The Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community)
  • April 13, 2024 (Tallahassee Jazz and Blues Festival at Tallahassee Museum)
  • April 24, 2024 (Spring Concert in Turner Auditorium)
  • May 1, 2024 (The Grove at Canopy Retirement Community)
  • June 12, 2024 (The Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community).

CAPITAL CITY BAND OF TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE (as it was known prior to July 1, 2024) presented nine concerts during the 2023-2024 concert season:

  • October 25, 2023 (Fall Concert – The Maguire Center of Westminster Oaks)
  • December 2, 2023 (Winter Festival – rained out)
  • December 4, 2023 (Tallahassee Senior Center)
  • December 8, 2023 (Commencement – Donald L. Tucker Civic Center)
  • April 6, 2024 (Springtime Tallahassee in Ponce de Leon Park)
  • April 26, 2024 (Spring Concert in Turner Auditorium)
  • May 2, 2024 (Commencement – Donald L. Tucker Civic Center)
  • June 17, 2024 (Tallahassee Senior Center)
  • July 4, 2024 (the first as CCB of TSC! The Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community)

We also presented the following special concerts:

  • April 2, 2024, Jazz Octet for “Jazz & Poetry in the Stacks” (TCC, as it was then known, Main Library)
  • April 21, 2024, Horn Trio plus Piano, Chamber Recital with Chilean Guest Artist, Alejandro Meléndez (Allegro Senior Living)
  • April 26, 2024, quintet at “Florida Heroes Reception” (The Florida Governor’s Mansion).
